Much information is available about Henry so I include only a brief outline.

As ‘Collector of the Queen’s Customs for London’, Henry became one of Elizabeth’s most valued administrators. Having taken Ireland - she divided it into ten parts, giving them to her staff to subdivide. Henry got Kilkenny, which he passed on to his sons Henry and Thomas.

In 1597 as Master of the Haberdashers, he was to become Lord Mayor, but the Queen refused to release him from his royal duties. However, his replacement died and Henry completed the term. He was knighted and served as MP for the City of London. He died in office.

His house is now the site of The Liveried Company House.
